Business Administration at Franklin Pierce includes an entrepreneurial team of professors who challenge business students to achieve their potential as learners and future business leaders. The university is home to a chapter of Students in Free Enterprise, a Financial Investment Club, the Small Business Advisory Group, and a registered chapter of the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society. In addition, many student teams are continuously engaged in research and service-based learning situations involving local business organizations.
The field of finance integrates concepts from economics, accounting, and a number of other areas. The primary goal of financial managers is to maximize the wealth of shareholders. These managers attempt to achieve wealth maximization through daily activities such as credit and inventory management and through long-term decisions related to raising funds. They must also carefully consider domestic and international business conditions in carrying out their responsibilities.
The Arts Management Program is an exciting recent addition to the Business Administration Division. A combination of a business core and courses in a concentration - Art History, Dance, Fine Arts, Graphic Communications, Mass Communication, Music or Theatre - allow students an opportunity to study an artistic interest, while at the same time developing practical business skills. Profit and nonprofit arts organizations including theatres, concert halls, museums, dance groups have a growing need for workers and managers who embrace their field with passion.
The management program at Franklin Pierce College offers students the necessary tools to obtain entry level positions in various industries and be successful managers within the firm. Major areas of study include teamwork, motivation, leadership, productivity measurement, quality control, controlling the marketing mix, and spreadsheet development and analysis. Students considering a career in management should have an enthusiasm for the discipline and recognize the variety of career opportunities for graduates.
The Marketing Program at Franklin Pierce integrates dynamic communication, technology, research, creativity and applications to real life organizational settings. The program focuses on the key elements of marketing including product development, pricing, promotion and distribution, within the context of a diverse and global network. In addition, special attention is given to electronic commerce and sustainable business practices.
Sports and Recreation Management
The Sports and Recreation Management program is one of a handful of institutions that locate the major and minor within the Division of Business Administration. By doing so, we are teaching students to become leaders and managers within the industry, not coaches and teachers. Students majoring or minoring in Sports and Recreation Management take a series of six required courses along with three additional courses chosen from one of two tracks.
