- STUDENT LIFE
Franklin Pierce University’s award-winning Theatre Program offers training and exploration in several aspects of performance -- acting, directing, and play writing -- through acting and directing studio classes and through your work in rehearsals and performances. Our faculty is committed to the value of hands-on, active learning, and you are encouraged to become involved in many aspects of theatre production from your very first semester.
Traditionally, our annual performance schedule includes a faculty or guest-directed play in the fall, a dance concert in the winter, and a musical in the spring as well as student designed and directed productions throughout the year.
Franklin Pierce is a member of the American College Theatre Festival Association, and our productions have regularly been honored to be chosen for performance at regional festivals. In 2003 Professor Robert Lawson’s original musical, …but the rain is full of ghosts, was chosen for presentation at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Additionally, our students also have the opportunity to participate in internships at regional professional theaters, such as The Peterborough Players.
