Presentation Title: "Chronic Inflammation in Cardiovascular Disease"

Abstract:

Chronic inflammation plays a central role in the development and progression of cardiovascular disease, influencing both the initiation and worsening of conditions such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, and heart failure. This project explores how prolonged, low-grade inflammatory responses disrupt normal cardiovascular function and contribute to structural and functional damage within blood vessels and the heart. The presentation will examine key inflammatory mechanisms, including immune cell activation, cytokine signaling, and endothelial dysfunction, and how these processes interact with traditional risk factors like obesity, smoking, stress, and sedentary behavior. Additionally, the project will highlight how chronic inflammation accelerates plaque formation and instability, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes. The audience will learn how inflammation is not merely a response to cardiovascular disease but a driving force behind its progression. Current and emerging strategies for reducing inflammation—such as lifestyle modifications, dietary interventions, and anti-inflammatory therapies—will also be discussed. By the end of this presentation, the audience will gain a clearer understanding of the biological link between chronic inflammation and cardiovascular disease, as well as the importance of prevention and early intervention in reducing long-term cardiovascular risk.
