Abstract:

Human BIR proteins comprise a 8-member family responsible for critical regulation of cell death, cell division, immunity and cancer. The C. elegans worm has two BIR proteins: BIR-1 and BIR-2 but no one knows what BIR-2 does. We have established a system in C. elegans to test the role of these molecules in survival against a deadly bacterium and submitted our findings for publication.
