Presentation Title: "Museum Exhibits on the History of the American Revolution"

Abstract:

In the History Department's Museum Studies course, students are studying the history and collective memory of the American Revolution as this year marks the 250th anniversay of the Declaration of Independence (1776). As part of their exploration of the revolution, students will complete museum exhibit projects on a series of selected topics, including the history of spies and espionage in the revolutionary war; the role and experience of Deborah Sampson who served in the Continental Army under the name Robert Shirtliff; American Quakers and pacifism; and Shay's Rebellion in Massachusetts (1786-1787). The museum exhibits will be displayed in the display cases in DiPietro Library.
