Presentation Title: "How Often Do People Take News At Face Value?"

Abstract:

This study will look into how trusting the participants are in news media sources, what they think of the industry, how they feel about the news they receive, and their absorption of their preferred news media. Using a focus group of representative students at Franklin Pierce University. The study conducted will focus on the groups’ news consumption habits, their feelings/trust towards journalists/news sources, and the types of news they receive the most (sports, politics, local, etc.). The associated literature suggests that many Americans get their news from social media, have a declining trust in news and journalists, and are still divisive about AI use in news. Many of these studies, however, neglect the age range this study would be focusing on.
