Abstract:

From late February to the day of the Showcase, the Poetry Workshop at Franklin Pierce has been hard at work creating, editing and publishing a variety of poems inspired by the Franklin Pierce community. These poems range from free verse to the Shakespearean sonnet, to the confessional, the epistolary, the ode and the obsessional, among many more. Each poem was written by a young student writer here on campus to honor either a memory, person or place associated with our University. For betterment of campus life, the students also planned and executed a Poetry Treasure hunt (which we called Poetry at Pierce) that places their poems throughout campus and the surrounding nature trails to add some art to our home. This exhibition encourages keen hunters to find all the poems around campus, and visit our Exhibition for a reading of original poems, alongside the possible contributions Dr. Landis’s Brit Lit class.
