Presentation Title: "Regular Physical Activity and its Effects on Adult Health"
Abstract:
Regular physical activity is a vital part of maintaining optimal health during adulthood, yet consistent exercise continues to rise as a challenge across the world. During this paper, research from a multitude of sources examines the many effects that come when adults deprive their bodies of exercise. This research reviews physical exercise and its influence on metabolic, cardiovascular, and mental health, affecting overall well-being. Large scale studies will be cited, revealing that regular physical activity significantly decreases the risk for a multitude of health issues, including chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, and hypertension. The inclusion of controlled intervention trials provides a deeper demonstration that receiving even small amounts of exercise can significantly improve metabolic function, cardiovascular health, and overall well-being. Research includes mediators such as emotional regulation and self-worth, providing an explanation on exercise’s role in reducing major mental health sicknesses, such as depression. Personal experiences are highlighted to conclude this paper, providing a personal reflection on the importance of physical exercise as it improves my mood, providing clarity to better my overall well-being. With a variety of studies supporting each other, the evidence that physical exercise is a vital supporter of adult health is undeniable.
