Presentation Title: "Bringing Research to Life: Sleep Duration and Next-Day Diet"
Abstract:
This presentation examines the real-world relevance of scholarly literature through the analysis of a published research article exploring the relationship between sleep duration and quality in relation to next-day dietary choices among adolescents. To engage with the article’s findings, peer-based observations were collected regarding sleep duration and general dietary patterns, including fruit and vegetable consumption, and compared with trends described in the literature. This comparison provides an opportunity to examine how established research findings may appear in everyday settings and behaviors. Rather than focusing on producing new conclusions, the presentation centers on understanding how scientific research can be interpreted and applied beyond traditional academic environments. Emphasis is placed on developing research literacy and promoting engagement with published studies and other academic work. The presentation ultimately highlights the importance of bringing research to life by linking scientific evidence to observable health behaviors, reinforcing the role of research in everyday health practices.
