Travel off campus by residential students will be significantly curtailed, and students and families will be asked to agree to this prior to the start of the fall term.
Travel increases a person’s chance of exposure to COVID-19 through contact, directly or indirectly, at public areas such as restaurants, stores, gas stations or rest area. In the continued effort to keep cases of COVID-19 low on the Rindge Campus and in accordance with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services requirement, we are sharing the following guidelines on travel:
Be aware that a negative test result while in quarantine, whether on campus or at home, will not reduce the 14-day requirement.
We are limiting visitors to our campuses in an effort to secure greater health and wellness for our community at this time. Visitors to one of our campuses should have a clearly defined purpose for being on campus and must have approval or coordination from one of our University offices or services to be on one of our campuses. When on a Franklin Pierce University campus, visitors are expected to adhere to all University preventative measures to help reduce the potential spread of Covid-19. If they fail to follow communicated and posted safety protocols, they will be asked to leave.
Residential Students, per the State of New Hampshire Guidance for reopening Higher Education in the state, will not be permitted to have off campus guests on campus or in their residence at this time. No guests, outside of those assigned to a residence hall or conducting authorized University business, including currently enrolled commuter students and alumni, are permitted in our student housing facilities. Additionally, Residential Students are asked to limit entrance to any residence hall or student housing unit to which they have not been assigned. Before visiting any other college campus as a guest, we encourage our residential students to first check the institution’s website to learn if off campus guests are restricted.
Franklin Pierce will welcome prospective students and their families to visit campus. Please check in at Campus Safety, then report to the Admissions Office for campus visits. There, you will be informed about the campus physical distancing protocols and requirements for protective face coverings.
For the time being, campus facilities and programs that normally welcome external guests are limiting access only to the Franklin Pierce community. We regret that outside community members who normally access these facilities will not be permitted until further notice.
Raven Athletics will resume per guidance from the NE10 of the NCAA. More information about training, practice, games and crowds will follow as it becomes available. When possible, NCAA Home Games will be livestreamed by Raven Sports Network at the Marlin Fitzwater Center for Communication.
Group events will be open to the campus or center community only, with attendance maximums to support physical distancing. In some instances, events may be shared via livestream from the Marlin Fitzwater Center for Communications. Details will be shared in the near future about how off-campus supporters will be able to participate online and via livestream.
Other large events that normally attract large numbers of guests to the Rindge campus, including Convocation, Homecoming & Family Weekend, and Open Houses, will not be held on campus during fall semester, and will instead utilize virtual technologies.
All vendors and visitors are required to check in with Campus Safety prior to entering any Franklin Pierce facilities, have their temperature taken, wear PPE and report on where they worked upon signing out. Key vendors will be required to sign a memorandum of understanding to ensure compliance with our protocols.
