Franklin Pierce University

Franklin Pierce is a private, non-profit, regionally-accredited University where every student has the opportunity to discover their passion and greatest potential.

Frank S. DiPietro, who founded the college in 1962 and served as Pierce’s first president, maintained the perspective that “only the small college can provide the intimate relationships between those who learn and those who teach.” More than five decades later, the University remains committed to this vision. With an environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and a sense of place, the community of educators at Pierce prepares every graduate for life on the other side of a degree through a combination of personalized teaching, and experiential and applied learning, including research, internships, and co-ops.

Through its campuses in Rindge, New Hampshire and Goodyear, Arizona, as well as centers across New Hampshire in Manchester, and Lebanon, Franklin Pierce provides flexible learning options that serve a wide range of students. Whether on-campus or online, students can follow a traditional undergraduate track to an associate or bachelor’s degree, or pursue an advanced master’s or doctoral degree.

The University community affectionately referred to as “Raven Nation” includes its Division II athletics program, which involves approximately 40% of the undergraduate student body. With more than 75 NCAA Championship appearances, the University boasts six national championships in both men’s and women’s soccer, more than 40 conference championships, and 10 national players of the year.

Franklin Pierce continues to establish itself as a resource and partner to the regions it serves, building relationships with employers and stakeholders that mutually benefit its students and businesses in need of a highly-prepared employee base. As such, the institution delivers on its vision to provide distinctive opportunities that intentionally connect academic majors and programs to meaningful career options, and produce ethical leaders and catalysts for positive change within and beyond their communities.

While many New Hampshire-born men and women have achieved greatness, only one has attained the pinnacle of political leadership. From 1853 -1857, Franklin Pierce proudly served as the 14th President of the United States.

In 1962, 105 years later, a visionary group receives a charter for a New Hampshire college uniquely dedicated to preparing future leaders. The name for such an institution was clear to all.
