TRansparent assignment design
Transparent Assignment Design is an output of the Transparecy in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (TILT Higher Ed). Transparency in learning and teaching (TILT) involves direct communication among educators and students about the methods of teaching and learning. It has demonstrably increased student success and instructor satisfaction at hundreds of institutions of higher education in the U.S. and abroad.

First, begin by providing students with an informative title.
All assignments should include the purpose, task, and criteria. Examples are very helpful and should be provided when available.
Purpose: Describe why students are completing an assignment and what knowledge and skills they will gain from this experience. Additionally, explain how this knowledge and skill set are relevant and will help the students in the future.
Task: Explain the steps students will take to complete the assignment.
Criteria and Examples (when possible): Show the students what successful submissions look like (e.g., provide a checklist or rubric and real-world examples).
