Abstract:
Franklin Pierce University has multiple collaborative initiatives with the Jaffrey Rindge Cooperative School District. Among these initiatives is the “Writing Nest” afterschool club for 4th and 5th grade Rindge Eagles interested in creating original literary works, students also recorded their work in podcasts at the Fitzwater Center, which were then released to the public. Another outreach initiative has been the Inquiry Scholars with FPU collegiate students mentoring 4th and 5th grade Jaffrey Owls. Public school students work with college student mentors as the use the inquiry process to research. This showcase presentation will involve the interviewing of college students involved in these initiatives and provide qualitative analysis regarding community collaboration of this nature.
