Presentation Title: "What is College For?: Reflections on the Aims of Higher Education in Financially Uncertain Times"
Abstract:
In a time of increasing economic uncertainty where young people see education as their path to a successful career but rising costs are causing them to question the very worthwhileness of a college degree at the same time, students who were in an FYI section entitled “What is College For?” in the fall of 2024 discuss their reflections on how the course readings, films, class assignments, and group projects impacted their understanding of education and its value, their sense of themselves as students, and what they hope to gain from their time at Franklin Pierce University.
