Presentation Title: "Anatomy of a Conspiracy Theory - the "White Genocide" myth in the US"
Abstract:
The white genocide conspiracy theory (sometimes called the “Great Replacement” argues that there is deliberate attempt to eliminate white people, and to destroy historically predominantly white countries. In the United States, the beginnings of this “plot,” according to white supremacists, was codified into various laws in the 1960s, including the critically important (to the conspiracy theory) 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act. This research looks at the roots of the conspiracy theory, including the federal laws that combined to help kickstart this belief, and includes notes from interview data with known white supremacists.
