Presentation Title: "Food Choices and Nutritional Status of Franklin Pierce"
Abstract:
The purpose of this primary research is to profile the dietary habits of Franklin Pierce students and to preliminarily explore the myriad factors that might potentially affect student food behavior. For this study, students were asked to voluntarily complete a 15-minute survey presenting items related to general health, activity level, food intake and nutrition. Questions included those associated with eating patterns, food preferences, food group consumption, sources of food, and access to food. Survey data were coded and compiled in the aggregate to qualitatively assess and identify trends or patterns in food behaviors and issues of access. It is expected that data from between 150 and 200 respondents will provide a rich platform of information that might be used to review the current food environment with the goal of improving food intake, food access opportunities and nutritional status of Franklin Pierce University students.
