Presentation Title: "Victims of Family, Filicide in the United States: The Caylee Anthony Case"
Abstract:
This The case of the death of Caylee Anthony fascinated the country. The idea that
a mother could harm her child is one that is difficult to comprehend, yet that is
what this case focused on. Filicide, or the death of a child at the hands of a parent,
is the topic of this paper with a focus on the case of Casey Anthony and her daughter.
Caylee was thought to have gone missing in the summer of 2008 when she was two years
old. Casey Anthony, Caylee’s 22-year-old mother, was found to have not reported her
missing for a month and obstructing the investigation and lying to the police. She
was eventually charged with killing her and involved in a highly publicized trial.
This paper looks at previous research on filicide causes and filicide in the United
States in comparison with the Anthony case.
