Streamlined process will make the goal of a four-year or graduate degree more accessible for Granite State students.
Franklin Pierce University is proud to announce its participation in the New Hampshire Transfer Guarantee, an initiative aimed at making the transfer process from community colleges more efficient and affordable for students. This program is part of the New England Board of Higher Education's efforts to facilitate seamless transitions for community college students.
“We are excited to join the New Hampshire Transfer Guarantee, which significantly enhances the accessibility of higher education by meeting community college students where they are in their educational journey,” said Catherine M. Paden, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs. “This initiative will ensure that every student can bring their diverse experiences to enrich our community, aligning perfectly with our mission at Franklin Pierce University.”
Under this initiative, students who have achieved the necessary grade point average and earned an associate degree from a New Hampshire community college can transfer to Franklin Pierce University without an application fee or personal essay. These students are also eligible for various scholarships and grants.
All academic programs are eligible under the Transfer Guarantee program. One particular program, Franklin Pierce’s School of Nursing RN-BSN program, stands out. As a working nurse with an associate degree or nursing diploma, students can earn their BSN 100% online and complete their degree in two years or less.
The PATHS@PIERCE program at Franklin Pierce further enhances the transfer experience by creating personalized and flexible learning pathways that link undergraduate programs directly to graduate degrees or clear career trajectories. For students transferring with an associate degree, PATHS@PIERCE provides a smooth continuation of their educational journey, enabling seamless integration into our undergraduate programs and efficient progression toward their academic and professional goals.
“Through initiatives like the New Hampshire Transfer Guarantee and PATHS@PIERCE, Franklin Pierce continues to provide relevant and accessible educational experiences,” added Paden. “At FPU, students will discover not only the programs that will propel them forward but also the means to achieve their goals, whether it's reducing time to degree completion, maximizing career preparation, or minimizing costs.”
Students who transfer to Franklin Pierce can expect the same level of support services as traditional undergraduate students. Whether they’re looking for academic assistance, help writing a resume, or simply need tips on how to make the most of their student experience, they will find the support they need to succeed academically and in all facets of student life. FPU’s student services are designed to provide prompt answers to questions and personal guidance in everything from admissions and enrollment to preparing for life after graduation.
The New Hampshire Transfer Guarantee is part of a statewide effort to create systematic pathways between the state’s community colleges and four-year institutions, improving admission opportunities and success rates for students holding associate degrees. This is the first year of the New Hampshire initiative, with initial enrollments expected in Fall 2024. Similar programs are also launching this year in Maine and Vermont.
Since its inception in 2021 in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, the New England Transfer Guarantee has been supported by the Teagle Foundation, the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, the Davis Educational Foundation, and the Balfour Foundation. Data from the program's first two years show that transfer students not only succeed academically at their new institutions but also complete their degrees efficiently, with the first group graduating in just four semesters.
