Dr. Kristen Nevious Appointed to NHPBS Board of Directors

DURHAM, NH (July 9, 2025) - As New Hampshire PBS (NHPBS) begins a new fiscal year, the organization is pleased to welcome several new members to its Board of Directors and Community Advisory Board. These individuals bring a wide range of professional expertise, community perspectives and a shared commitment to public media. Their insights and leadership will help guide NHPBS in fulfilling its mission to inspire, educate and engage audiences across the Granite State and beyond.
Board of Directors Appointments:
Mark E. Doyle serves as Director of the NH Department of Safety’s Division of Emergency Services and Communications, a role he has held since 2017. Previously, he spent 20 years with the Merrimack Police Department, rising to the rank of Chief. Doyle holds a BS in Business Management and an MBA in Leadership from Franklin Pierce University and has trained at the FBI National Academy and the University of Virginia. Doyle is also a member of InfraGard, a partnership between the FBI and private sector professionals dedicated to protecting the nation's critical infrastructure.
Cynthia Fenneman, President Emeritus of American Public Television (APT), brings more than four decades of experience in commercial, cable and public broadcasting. Under her leadership, APT expanded into new TV channels, digital media, streaming and podcasting. From 1986 to 1994, she led New Hampshire Public Television and served as Executive Producer and then Director of Broadcasting. Fenneman is a recipient of more than 40 industry awards, including 12 Emmys and a Peabody. She has also served on numerous nonprofit boards, including serving Strawbery Banke Museum, The Music Hall of Portsmouth, the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, the Harvard Travellers Club in Boston, Public Media Venture Group, is a Governor for the York Harbor Reading Room and an advisor for the Appalachian Mountain Club.
Kristen Nevious has been Director of the Marlin Fitzwater Center for Communication at Franklin Pierce University since 2004. She oversees a student media team producing award-winning content, including THE STATE WE’RE IN for NHPBS and podcasts with the Granite State News Collaborative, which she co-founded in 2018. Nevious delivers programming that takes advantage of the University’s location in the home of the First-in-the-Nation Primary, including The Presidency and the Press, a high school summer program; Pizza & Politics, which hosts national as well as local candidates and campaigns; and PoliticsFitzU, a collegiate political reporting unit that has earned national press credentials to the national political conventions covering presidential races since 2008. Her team also produces Ravens Sports Network, including the first Spanish-language NCAA DII Championship Soccer coverage in 2023 and 2024.
With degrees in journalism, Nevious has taught at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Southern Missouri State University, the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of South Dakota, where she earned tenure. Nevious has served on several press association boards including the New England Newspaper and Press Association’s Board of Directors, the New Hampshire Press Association Board of Directors and a member of the Journalism Education Foundation of New England Board of Directors. In 2018, she was named Journalism Educator of the Year by the New England Newspaper and Press Association (NENPA).
NHPBS extends its gratitude to Lisa Law for her dedicated service on the Board. Lisa is stepping down after several years of engagement. Lisa was instrumental in bringing Our Hometown Nashua to the Nashua Center for the Arts in 2023.
