Franklin Pierce University announces the appointment of Rachel Burleson to the position of Director of Athletics, succeeding Bruce Kirsch who will retire in June after serving in the position at Franklin Pierce for 45 years.
Most recently, Burleson served as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration at Missouri Southern State University, where she also served as the Director of Internal Operations and the NCAA Division II Compliance Officer.
Prior to working at Missouri Southern State University, Burleson was the Assistant Athletic Director for Equipment, Events, and Facilities at Western State Colorado University where she coordinated marketing, promotions, and fundraising for athletics, and also provided oversight for facility projects. Burleson earned her Master of Science in Education for Athletic Administration from Northwest Missouri State University and her Bachelor of Science from Tarleton State University.
“With more than a decade of intercollegiate sports administration and coaching experience at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II level, Ms. Burleson was a stand-out candidate for this position,” said President Kim Mooney. “Her experience and passion will fortify and propel Franklin Pierce’s athletic department, and I am confident that she will bring a spirit of collaboration and a commitment to strong communication that will extend throughout the University.”
Burleson’s appointment is effective July 1.
