Student Affairs Leaders are Here to Help New Ravens
Aug 23, 2019
New students on the Rindge campus will be surrounded with support as they navigate life at Franklin Pierce University. Our Student Affairs Leadership (SALS) program is designed to ease the transition for entering freshmen and transfer students, with
over 150 Ravens participating to build community and ensure campus safety. They have all attended a week-long training in August and are eager to meet our new
students.
Community Assistants (CAs) work alongside the residential life staff in the residence halls. They make sure
students are settled, healthy and successful in their halls and help students find
their place at FPU, especially during their first year.
Peer Leaders are year-long mentors who help new students adjust to college life. Peer Leaders meet
with students once a week during their First-Year Inquiry course, lead students through
orientation activities and stay connected with them throughout the year.
Orientation Spirit Leaders support the campus community by helping to set up events, assisting with logistics,
and becoming familiar faces for new students.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are volunteer student leaders who respond to emergencies on campus and have
completed the Nationally Registered EMT basics course. The team of students works
with the Health Services Department, Campus Safety, and the Fire Department to provide
the best care possible in the event of emergencies.
Student Fire Officers and Student Safety Officers train alongside the Town of Rindge Fire Department and respond to a variety calls within the community. Franklin Pierce University is one of the only higher education institutions in the country that operates its own fire company on campus and has its own station.
