The varsity sprint football team of Franklin Pierce University takes on Army in a noon game on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Oakmont High School in Ashburnham, Mass. After this third game of the season, the public will have an opportunity to dine with the team at a dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the Woodbound Inn in Rindge.
“It will be a sit-down pasta supper that will have our football players and coaches enjoying a meal with family and friends after the big game,” says Tim Brien, Strength and Conditioning Coach/Athletic Trainer for the team. “We want to invite people from the campus and general public to join us after the game and meet the team.”
This is the Ravens’ second season as one of seven member teams of the Collegiate Sprint Football League. Sprint football has the same rules as regular college football, except that recruitment takes place only on campus and practices are limited. Each player must weigh 172 pounds or less since the sport emphasizes speed and agility rather than weight and strength.
Tickets to the dinner are $7 for students, $15 for adults, and will be available for purchase on Sept. 16 at the University’s Football Office. For information call or email Defensive Line Coach Jerard Bennett: (603) 899-4302, bennettj12@live.franklinpierce.edu.
