New Scholarship Opportunity for Worcester County Business Students
Jul 12, 2018
Thanks to the efforts of Zachary Gianaris ’89 of Dudley, MA, the Gianaris Family Scholarship Fund has been established to support students from Worcester County, MA who wish to attend the College of Business at Franklin Pierce. Business majors represent 27% of the total student population at Franklin Pierce, and all complete meaningful internships to incorporate real-world business training and experience.
The Gianaris family has deep connections in Southern Worcester County, where three generations have lived, raised children and built businesses. Giving back to the community is a family tradition. Gianaris recalls stories of his grandfather freely giving away food from the family produce business in the wake of a massive flood in Worcester County. He too values community, and stays in touch with people he grew up with in Dudley and people he met at Franklin Pierce. “Franklin Pierce is a place where people know you by name,” he said.
"Zachary Gianaris is a wonderful example of the lifelong connection students, faculty and staff make with one another as part of our close-knit community,” noted Kim Mooney, President of Franklin Pierce University. “We are deeply grateful for the family’s commitment to help make our excellent business education accessible to Franklin Pierce students from communities near Worcester.”
