Don’t Stop the Presses
Jan 1, 2020

Bruce White of White’s Farm Stand & Sugar House gave a lesson on making cider to Jessie Janas, Arin Lotter, Jeno, and Baldwin the dog.
Bruce explained how he uses a blend of thirty apple varieties, grown on his farm, to make his signature cider blend. The apples are washed, and then ground - dropping onto flats. Each flat has a porous fabric that allows the apple juice to flow with little to no pulp making its way into the beverage.
Once eight flats have been ground, approximately 3 bushels of apples, they are placed under the pressing mechanism. The cider is pumped into a holding tank and portioned out right away. Finally, cider!
