Ravens Continue Conversation on Diversity and Inclusivity

On Thursday evening, June 18, more than eighty members of the Franklin Pierce community convened for the university’s second virtual gathering to listen, learn, reflect, share and ultimately evaluate how it can help advance real change in the effort to eliminate systemic racism. Thursday night’s session included the heartfelt and often emotional stories and reflections of several participants who shared their personal experiences. “The first step in making a difference in the effort to overcome racism is to foster and encourage open and candid conversations not only about our present and our future, but also our past,” said President Kim Mooney. “Such conversations are often uncomfortable, but they are crucial to develop the trust and shared commitment required to make a difference. I want to personally thank each and every speaker at last Thursday’s session for the remarkable courage they demonstrated in sharing their stories, and ask that they continue to contribute to this important effort. We have much work to do together.” |

The next virtual gathering on diversity and inclusivity will be scheduled soon and
all members of the Franklin Pierce Community are invited to attend. Alumni who have
not received email communications about previous sessions are asked to update their
contact information by sending it to alumni@franklinpierce.edu.
As shared on June 18, the University also plans to create a Diversity and Inclusivity section of its website. All Ravens are encouraged to think of what information and content will be helpful to include on the site, with details on how to submit their recommendations to come.
