Hybrid is a term used to describe a program that has both face-to-face and online components. This program utilizes online learning for the 20 required courses and supplements the online learning experience with two required face-to-face immersion weeks throughout the course of the program. Each immersion week is five days and will be located on the Rindge, NH campus.
Students will only need to be on campus twice throughout the duration of the program. Students are required to attend two five-day immersion week throughout the duration of the program.
Each student will be paired with a faculty advisor upon acceptance into the program. This advisor will provide the student with assistance as needed throughout the program. Each course will have a course instructor that will provide timely feedback on assignments, course support, and experiential learning components that encourage student growth. In addition to faculty support, students move through the program in a cohort model. A cohort model means students will start and complete the program with the same set of peers. Students will have the opportunity to meet and interact with cohort members both virtually and face-to-face throughout the program.
Clinical mental health counselors can provide a broad range of mental health services. Services include individual, group, family, and couples counseling, crisis counseling, career counseling, counseling related assessment services, mental health diagnosis, and treatment of mental health diagnoses. Counselors can work with a broad range of individuals from various backgrounds and needs, such as children and adolescents, adults, geriatric populations, veterans, athletes, incarcerated populations, and dual diagnosis. This is not a comprehensive list, but it is an example of some options for clinical mental health counselors.
Options for clinical site placements will be based on student interest and geographic location. Options may include private practice, college counseling centers, hospitals, schools, substance use treatment centers, and community agencies.
No, students do not have to be located or commute to Rindge, NH for the clinical site placements. Students will work with the Clinical Coordinator to obtain a site placement in their geographical location.
The MA in CMHC Program is not currently approved for students to use VA education benefits including the GI Bill. We are working toward making this available, but at this point, we do not have an estimated timeline for when students will be able to use VA education benefits.
