New Franklin Pierce Ravens are Here!
Aug 24, 2018

Franklin Pierce University is excited to begin a new academic year with 492 new students calling Rindge ‘home.’ The Class of 2022 and transferring upperclassmen hail from 25 states and six countries. Many come from small towns like Keene, New Hampshire or Belchertown, Massachusetts. Others come from large cities like New York City, or from states like Texas, Virginia and Colorado. Men outnumber women (but just barely). While 80% of the Class of 2022 are from New England, they represent over 300 different high schools.
“We’re so pleased to welcome a strong group of dynamic students who come with a range of academic skills and life experiences that will enrich our community of learners,” stated Linda Quimby, Vice President of Enrollment and University Communications.
The incoming flock of Ravens includes six international students from Holland, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Germany and Israel. In addition, 32 transfer students will join Franklin Pierce from various colleges across the country and the world, including Shenandoah University in Virginia, Monroe College in New York and Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Merced in Madrid, Spain. Among the incoming class, 39% of the students are recruited NCAA Division II athletes.
In the class of 2022, there is no shortage of passionate volunteers. Some of the new freshmen have traveled abroad to support rebuilding efforts and other service projects, and many have made significant contributions in their local communities. New students bring a wide variety of interests and extracurricular activities to their college experience as well.
A few noteworthy students have:
- participated in 30 triathlons
- written for a local racing website
- created and ran her own soccer clinic
- worked as a sternman on a lobster boat
- played twice on an ESPN all-star hockey team
- launched a landscaping company
Incoming students will attend a “Major Mixer” during orientation, where students and faculty members meet for ice cream and conversation about their academic interests. The most popular areas of study for the Class of 2022 are Biology and Health Sciences (27%), Business majors (20%), Criminal Justice (9%) and Education (8%).
Franklin Pierce University encourages every student to get to know their classmates, grow as individuals, and discover their own unique qualities with the support of a close-knit community. Welcome home Ravens!
