Presentation Title: "Harm Reduction: National to Campus"
Abstract:
Harm reduction is an important, fact-based component to public health and safety. In fact, it is the key pillar to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Overdose Prevention Strategy. While it may not stop the harm being done entirely, through careful measures it can help to reduce the harm being done to the person as a whole. Through methods of harm reduction, individuals can be treated with more equity, dignity, and humanity. This study will look at harm reduction efforts and drug use not only at a national level, but at a local, and campus level as well. While there has been a dramatic rise in drug related overdose deaths in the United States, this study investigates the complexity of the situation and how the nation and campus plan to move forward in the future.
