Presentation Title: "The Hidden Battle: Racial Profiling In Law Enforcement"
Abstract:
This analysis study explored racial profiling in law enforcement, especially against people of color, is an ongoing problem across the country. Drawing on numerous cases and statistics, this analysis shows how Black and Latina individuals are disproportionately subject to police stops, searches and violence, often without prima facie evidence of criminal activity. The cases of Operation Pipeline (New Jersey) and Andy Lopez (California), as well as the widespread use of stop and frisk policies, demonstrate the systematic nature of racial profiling within the law enforcement community. It highlights the negative impact of racial profiling on communities of color, creating fear, mistrust, and an overall sense of unfairness. While reform and accountability efforts are ongoing, cases of police abuse continue to fuel a cycle of racial inequality and injustice, highlighting the urgency of systemic racism and the need for comprehensive police reforms and practices to ensure fair and equitable treatment for all people, regardless of their race or ethnicity.
