Presentation Title: "literature Review: Psychopathology and Gender"
Abstract:
This literature review on psychopathology and gender has brought to light three significant themes: gender differences in symptoms, the adaptive nature of psychopathology, and explanations of its origins. The articles were broken down in a Biopsychosocial perspective. The review is important because most studies on psychopathology focus on men, overlooking potential gender differences in symptoms. Understanding these differences is crucial for accurate diagnosis and treatment. The review also explored biological factors that may prevent the development of psychopathology symptoms, as well as potential causes. Additionally, unrelated themes emerged that could impact perceptions of psychopathology. This literature review emphasizes the need for more comprehensive research that includes gender-specific considerations. By uncovering the nuances of how psychopathology presents in different genders, allows professionals to better address and support individuals with these conditions. This type of research is vital for advancing our understanding of psychopathology and improving the quality of care for all individuals impacted by it.
