Abstract:
Children born through cesarean delivery show altered microbiota development after only a few weeks of life. Finding knowledge on the loss of microbes in growing infants is important for their overall quality of life. Learning more ways that the microbes that are lost in cesarean infants will give more opportunities for scientists to find new ways of recovering these microbes after birth in the infants born through cesarean delivery. I've done research on the different types of microbes that get lost in the microbiota of cesarean delivered infants. Along with two different studies done on a way to give some to most of those microbes back to these infants after birth that showed remarkable success. Although there are few studies in the long term effect of infants born cesarean delivery; the few that focus on the relations that have been reported of cesarean infants and increase of late childhood obesity and asthma. As well as short term effects resulting in increased likelihood of allergy, atopy, and reduced intestinal gut microbiome diversity.
